Where AI actually helps in low-code (and where it just makes noise)
Placeholder — outline below. This one’s begging to be a proper piece.
Every low-code platform now has an AI button. Some of it is genuinely useful; a lot of it is a demo that falls apart on contact with real data. My rough split, to be expanded:
Where it earns its keep
- Turning plain-language descriptions into formulas and validation rules.
- Drafting the first version of a workflow you then tighten by hand.
- Summarising and classifying messy inbound text (tickets, emails, form notes).
Where it just makes noise
- Anything that needs to be exactly right with no human check.
- “Build my whole app from a sentence” — great demo, fragile result.
- Decisions where you can’t explain why the AI did what it did.
The throughline: AI is a fantastic first-draft engine and a poor final authority. More to come — including concrete Zoho examples.
